Powell fears
Spanish exit

John Powell's FIA World Rally Championship debut could be over after the Trinidad and Tobago driver confirmed he was suffering from an inner ear infection.

Powell, driving an M-Sport Ford Fiesta RS WRC, restarted on day two 17th on the road following his exit on Friday through illness.

However, he told WRC Live’s Anthony Peacock at the finish of stage seven, La Mussara, that it was unlikely he would go any further.

“I’ve been diagnosed with an inner ear infection, which is affecting my balance,” said Powell. “Unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be able to continue any further.”

Powell completed the 20.48-kilometre test 2m21.0s down on stage winner Jari-Matti Latvala.
