The change of colour scheme is the result of the Draw ‘n’ Race competition run by Black Bean Games, which published WRC 2, the official video game of the 2011 FIA World Rally Championship, in conjunction with the FERM-backed WRC squad.
It invited gamers to submit the favourite livery design and following hundreds of entries, Helio Rodrigues, from Portugal was chosen as the winner.
The 32-year-old civil engineer from Lisbon is keen fan of racing simulators and has a great passion for design. In addition to his livery being incorporated onto the Fiesta of Kuipers and co-driver Frederic Miclotte, he will attend Wales Rally GB as a guest of FERM Power Tools World Rally Team.
FERM’s marketing boss Roel Schoondermark said: “We never expected such a huge worldwide response and it is great that so many people got involved with actually designing the livery of our FERM WRC car, resulting in some amazing designs.”
Dennis Kuipers, currently 12th in the WRC drivers’ standings, added: “I really like the powerful orange design of the car, it is very nice to drive in a different colour for one race in the year.”
