More Than Machine Highly Commended at The Race Media Awards

More Than Machine, the acclaimed docuseries following M-Sport Ford’s journey through the 2024 FIA World Rally Championship, earned a ‘Highly Commended’ accolade in the Best Documentary category at The Race Media Awards on Wednesday evening.

Produced by Superlative Studios in partnership with SafetyCulture Films, More Than Machine debuted last year on WRC’s YouTube channel, offering fans an exclusive, all-access pass into the daily lives of drivers, engineers, and technicians. Across six gripping episodes, the series captured the triumphs, struggles, and sacrifices that define life in the WRC.

The series secured its place as one of four finalists in the fiercely contested Best Documentary category, with this year’s awards drawing a record number of entries. At the prestigious ceremony, held at Plaisterers’ Hall in London, it was celebrated as a standout production, receiving a well-deserved ‘Highly Commended’ recognition.

Reacting to the news, M-Sport Ford Team Principal Richard Millener said: “Of course it is always hard to accept being beaten to the top prize, but to receive a highly commended recognition for More Than Machine says a lot about the quality and impact of the docuseries.

“I am really proud of what SafetyCulture Films and Superlative managed to capture around our 2024 season. It was definitely full of ups and downs, and I think the ‘real’ way in which it was portrayed only increased the impact of the production.

“I would like to thank everyone involved in making this happen, especially Luke Anear, Matt Jepsen, Gary Osbourne, Sam Widdows, Peter Coventry, Ollie Scarth-Saunders and Olivia Bidds, and of course all of the M-Sport team. It is really special to know that we can now go back and relive some great memories whenever we want to.”

Luke Anear, Founder and Executive Chair at SafetyCulture said: “More Than Machine was about capturing the raw intensity of WRC - the passion, the challenges, and the relentless drive of the teams behind the scenes. To see it recognised at The Race Media Awards has been a cherry on top of that."

“At SafetyCulture, we believe in telling real stories that celebrate the best teams in the world who are pushing the limits of performance. More Than Machine did just that, bringing fans closer to the true heart of the sport. We’re proud of this recognition and excited to keep raising the bar with our content and storytelling.”
