Ultimately, Finnish crew Sami Pajari and co-driver Enni Mälkönen would take the crown when the season reached its conclusion at last month’s FORUM8 Rally Japan, but before that there had been five changes of series leader at the top of the table.
With back-to-back wins in Latvia and Finland, added to a win in Sweden and second in Kenya, Oliver Solberg looked to be odds-on to bring a second WRC title to the Solberg family home.

Season Review: WRC2 in 2024
Six rounds into this year’s FIA World Rally Championship, and the direction of the WRC2 title was impossible to call – there had been six different winners. It was a nailbiter of a story that ran right until the final page of the final chapter.

A top-two position in Toyota City would be enough for Pajari to clinch this year’s award. That result was duly delivered.
Nikolay Gryazin produced the strongest finish to the season by winning in Central Europe and Japan for Citroën Racing. The C3 Rally2 enjoyed its strongest year to date, with his team-mate Yohan Rossel leading the charge early on after a Rallye Monte-Carlo win. The Frenchman also topped the podium in Chile to close his season out fourth in the standings.
Briton Gus Greensmith and Spaniard Jan Solans also won WRC2 rounds, in Kenya and Portugal respectively through 2024.
