WRC winners honoured at FIA Prize Giving in Rwanda

Thierry Neuville and Martijn Wydaeghe were celebrated as the 2024 FIA World Rally Champions for Drivers and Co-Drivers during the FIA Rally & Circuit Awards in Kigali, Rwanda, on Friday evening.

The Belgian duo, who secured their long-awaited maiden titles this season behind the wheel of Hyundai Motorsport’s i20 N Rally1 HYBRID, joined an illustrious gathering of motorsport champions in the Rwandan capital for the prestigious annual event.

Toyota GAZOO Racing WRT’s Yuichiro Haruna was also in attendance to collect the manufacturers’ championship trophy, marking yet another successful season for the Japanese marque. Elfyn Evans’ co-driver, Scott Martin, was on hand to receive awards for their runner-up finishes in both the drivers’ and co-drivers’ championships.

Ott Tänak and Martin Järveoja, who claimed third in the standings, were also recognised, alongside champions from the support categories. These included Sami Pajari and Enni Mälkönen (WRC2 and WRC2 Challenger), Diego Dominguez and Rogelio Peñate (WRC3), Romet Jürgenson and Siim Oja (FIA Junior WRC), Armin Kremer (WRC Masters Cup for Drivers), and “MJ” Morrissey (WRC Masters Cup for Co-Drivers).
