The Czech driver, now based in Tenerife, transitions to the WRC’s premier support category after several seasons in WRC3 with a Rally3-specification Ford Fiesta. Černý made headlines at last year’s Monte-Carlo event, where he dominated secured victory in WRC3 by over 10 minutes as well as finishing 18th overall.
Černý's Citroën will be prepared by Czech outfit LMP Racing, and he will get his first taste of the car at the Jänner Rallye in Austria. The event, known for its wintery conditions, will serve as ideal preparation for Monte-Carlo. Ondřej Krajča, 31, will continue as Černý's co-driver.
“For the first time in my sporting career I will be competing in WRC2 with a Citroën C3 Rally2. I am very happy,” Černý said of the news.
“We are going to prepare well for this new challenge in the WRC, which is why we will be in the Jänner Rallye, an event that I have great appreciation for. In it I hope to find conditions similar to those of Monte-Carlo to arrive as prepared as possible.”
Entries for Rallye Monte-Carlo close on Friday 20 December, with the list of registered competitors set to be published on 3 January 2025.
