Driving his Toyota GR Yaris Rally2, the former ERC1 Junior Champion scored a career-best second place in Passau. That podium success now has him thinking about more world-level action in the future.
“I would like to do more [World Rally Championship] events,” said Mareš. “I know it’s difficult for the budget and I am staying on the ground, but after the result [in CER] I would like to do more WRC.
“To finish eighth overall on a world championship round was really good for us – we didn't expect that result, so I'm really proud because our team is really small with a small budget compared to other teams. When we started this season, we didn’t have CER in our plan, we added it at the last moment before the date for entries were closing. It was incredible to drive in the WRC at home and the result is a great present for all of our partners.”
Mareš’ CER result was even more impressive given that he’d become a father just a fortnight before the start.
