Pajari takes valuable learnings from sixth-place Chile finish

Rally Chile BIOBIÓ was mission accomplished for Toyota driver Sami Pajari who returned to Europe with a third successive top-six FIA World Rally Championship finish.

The Concepción-based event was, of course, his second official outing with the Toyota factory team and, while his return to a GR Yaris Rally1 didn’t quite deliver the highlights of the stage win and fourth-place he managed in Jyväskylä, it offered the experience he needed.

“The plan was to come here and take the experience,” he said. “We have done that. On Friday, the stage times were good – I think we showed pace there and that was really nice to see.

“But when the weather changed a little bit and things were more difficult over the weekend, there was a lot of learning on those days with tricky conditions – but that’s part of the game. To get safely through the whole rally was the main plan, it was so important to get that mileage done without any silly mistakes, so we need to be happy with that and at least we could show good pace on some of the stages. Now I can’t wait for Central European Rally which will be another new challenge with a lot to learn.”
