Dani Sordo reveals interesting future plans

While Dani Sordo’s next appearance in the FIA World Rally Championship remains unconfirmed, the popular Spaniard has a different focus for the coming weeks.

Sordo formed part of a Hyundai Motorsport 1-2-3 between Thierry Neuville and Ott Tänak at EKO Acropolis Rally Greece earlier this month, having previously led the event before a tyre blowout on the penultimate day derailed his charge.

The 41-year-old has contested three WRC rounds so far this season, sharing Hyundai’s third i20N Rally1 HYBRID car with Norway’s Andreas Mikkelsen and Finland’s Esapekka Lappi. However, with Lappi set to drive in Chile and only two more rounds remaining, Sordo’s next WRC appearance is still up in the air.

When asked about his immediate future, Sordo quipped, “Next, I’ll be at home, working in the garden!”

Reflecting on his and co-driver Cándido Carrera’s Acropolis outing, Sordo expressed satisfaction despite his tyre trouble as well as managing a faulty hybrid system on some stages.

“I don’t think we could have done it better,” he told WRC.com. “We did what we needed to do, and it was all perfect. To have three Hyundais on the podium is, for me and the team, so nice.”
