Sunday in Finland restores confidence for Munster

Completing the final day’s mileage at Secto Rally Finland has helped restore Grégoire Munster’s confidence aboard the Ford Puma Rally1 Hybrid, following his crash on Saturday morning’s opening stage.

The Luxembourg driver went off the road in Västilä, meaning he and co-driver Louis Louka missed out on the eagerly awaited Ouninpohja test. Crucially for Munster, however, the M-Sport team was able to rebuild the Puma in time for Sunday’s action.

“It’s very important to get back out in the car again,” said Munster. “The team did an incredible job – when you see how the car was when it arrived back in service [on Saturday] and then just a few hours later it was perfect again. This team is amazing.

“It was disappointing to miss out on Ouninpohja – but this first event in Finland in a Rally1 car was quite tricky for us. For sure, it wasn’t easy with the weather conditions changing quite a lot. It was tough. And this is what makes it good that we have been able to drive again on the final day. It’s only 40 kilometres, but these are really important to go away from this rally to the next one with this time in the car.”
