The Luxembourg driver finished seventh last time at ORLEN 80th Rally Poland, but admitted he felt real progress with the car, set-up and his own performance. He’s keen to build on that when the team arrives in Riga and Liepāja for round eight of this year’s FIA World Rally Championship next week - an event that his not previously featured on the global stage.
Munster said: “We were quite satisfied with our pace [in Poland], and we had our best stage result in stage four, being second-fastest. The gap compared to the fastest has been reduced, so it is a step forward. We learned a lot this weekend that we can carry into Rally Latvia, where we will try to benefit from our start position and have a good result.”
While Munster was frustrated to miss a point on the Wolf Power Stage, he was happy to have finished ahead of Toyota rival Takamoto Katsuta.
“Keeping Takamoto behind was good," the youngster added. "He is a far more experienced driver who is normally performing well on these types of rallies. We were only a couple of seconds off a point in the [Wolf] Power Stage, but overall I was happy with Poland.”
