Bulacia makes fresh start with mid-year car switch

Marco Bulacia has changed cars ahead of next week’s Rally Italia Sardegna (30 May – 2 June), with the Bolivian set to drive a Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 from the WRC’s Italian leg onwards.

The 23-year-old returns to Škoda machinery after a challenging start to his WRC2 campaign in Portugal earlier this month, where he retired the Citroën C3 he had been driving due to a steering problem.

Today (Wednesday), Bulacia unveiled the Škoda he will drive in Sardinia and beyond. The car features a striking livery named ‘Furia’ (Spanish for fury) and will be run by Portuguese team The Racing Factory.

“We are very hopeful,” said Bulacia, who is co-driven by Diego Vallejo. “After our long-awaited start of season did not happen as planned, we hope that this change of course will help us demonstrate our potential. Sardinia is an event where we have always been competitive since we started there for the first time in 2019.

“We have had tests with The Racing Factory team and everything has gone very well. I feel like we have the same motivation and want to go in the same direction. We'll see what happens next week at an event we really love,” he added.
