Virves unveils new Škoda for WRC2 comeback

Estonian talent Robert Virves will return to the FIA World Rally Championship at Rally Italia Sardegna next week (30 May – 2 June), driving a Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 supplied by Spanish team RaceSeven.

Virves, 23, has not competed since EKO Acropolis Rally Greece last September, where he retired while vying for a top-five finish in the WRC2 category. At the time, he was driving a Ford Fiesta Rally2, which was part of his prize for winning the 2022 FIA Junior WRC title.

Today (Tuesday), Virves unveiled the Škoda he will pilot at round five of the WRC in Italy, marking his return to competition after more than eight months away. He also confirmed plans to contest Tet Rally Latvia and ORLEN 80th Rally Poland later in the year.

“I am back on track in the WRC and I will make the first start of this season already at Rally Italia Sardegna,” Virves said. “This year's car is a Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 prepared by RaceSeven with co-driver Aleks Lesk.

“Great work has been done to get this opportunity and here I thank all our supporters who are helping us get back on track. Today I can confirm that Sardinia will not be our only start in the WRC series and according to current plans we will also start in Poland and Latvia."
