Fourmaux aims to build on Wolf Power Stage push

M-Sport Ford driver Adrien Fourmaux is looking to use the confidence he took from his maiden Wolf Power Stage in Croatia to fuel his performance at next week’s Vodafone Rally de Portugal, the latest round of the World Rally Championship.

The Ford Puma Rally1 Hybrid star was delighted to land his first five-pointer on the final stage in Zagreb last month, but he’s already looking forward to how he can build on that at the season’s first European gravel encounter around Matosinhos.

“That [Wolf Power Stage win] was perfect for the confidence,” he said. “It makes me think that now I can do it on the Tarmac, I need to do it on the gravel. For me it’s good, because I have always felt more comfortable on the gravel. I’m looking forward to Portugal.”

A mistake early on the final day of Croatia aside, Fourmaux’s early season form has been strong. He’s chasing a third podium in four starts and heads into Portugal in a provisional bronze medal position, six points clear of Ott Tänak.

M-Sport team principal Richard Millener is impressed with what he’s seen.

“It’s been a strong start from Adrien,” he said. “He’s shown pace and consistency and that’s what we’re looking for in Portugal.”

Fourmaux’s preparations for Portugal will be second to none, with the Frenchman enjoying three days at the wheel of the test Puma – one of which will be a dedicated day of running on Hankoook tires.
