The former WRC winners lining up to compete in ERC this weekend

Hayden Paddon and Mads Østberg are among several WRC stars tackling the opening round of the FIA European Rally Championship in Hungary this weekend.

New Zealanders Paddon and co-driver John Kennard, who claimed their sole FIA World Rally Championship victory with Hyundai at Rally Argentina in 2018, begin their European title defence in a Pirelli-shod i20 N Rally2 car at V-Híd Rally Hungary.

Ex-M-Sport Ford works driver Østberg, meanwhile, is campaigning a Citroën C3 Rally2 on the gravel event alongside co-driver Patrik Barth. He won Vodafone Rally de Portugal in 2012.

Other familiar faces include WRC2 regulars Mikko Heikkilä and Erik Cais, while previous FIA Junior WRC frontrunners Simone Tempestini, Jon Armstrong and Mārtiņš Sesks are each contesting the ERC’s headline category.

V-Híd Rally Hungary starts later today (Friday 12 April) in Veszprém and includes 13 special stages before the finish on Sunday evening. Every stage is being broadcast live on Rally.TV and fans can also follow the action via broadcasters across the globe.
