Progression is the focus for Frenchman Fourmaux

M-Sport Ford's Rally1 returnee Adrien Fourmaux says his focus for the season ahead is on continuing the progression he made through 2023.

The Frenchman was moved from M-Sport Ford’s factory WRC squad to a Rally2 programme last year, delivering a British title with an evolving and developing Fiesta Rally2. Now it’s back to the top tier, and Fourmaux is excited about his full-time WRC return.

“Last year I really learned a lot,” he said. “I feel more relaxed in the driving now, I feel more comfortable and more confident – this is something that I want to continue in 2024.

“The priority is to take the maximum points from every round, we know that. If we can do that, bring in good average points per round, then we know it can be interesting.”

Fourmaux paid tribute to M-Sport managing director Malcolm Wilson, his mentor through the early part of his career.

“I only drove M-Sport cars in my career,” said Fourmaux. “And since 2020, I have been in the official team – Malcolm [Wilson] has been a big part of my career, that’s for sure. I talked with him about this season coming and he wants me to continue what I’m doing.”

Fourmaux completed both snow and dry asphalt running ahead of next week’s season-opening Rallye Monte-Carlo.

“There were some improvements to the car from the end of last year,” said Fourmaux. “I had a good test with a good feeling with the car. I’m looking forward to Monte Carlo – I’m French so to have the stages in France is really special for me.”
