Munster aims to build on Rally1 experiences

M-Sport Ford World Rally Team driver Gregoire Munster is looking to build on his extraordinary World Rally Championship experiences from this year as he plans his programme into 2024.

The 24-year-old enjoyed a unique campaign this season, winning the Junior WRC category in Estonia, setting the pace in WRC2 and driving a Puma Rally1 Hybrid for the first time –posting a fourth fastest time overall at Central European Rally last month.

“We took a lot of experience this season,” said Munster. “Driving the Puma, we learned so much in the wet and dry conditions. Coming to Japan, this was not the way we wanted the WRC season to end – but I am happy with the speed we were able to show.

“We came very close to the finish and to making a really good result for the team. It’s a shame we couldn’t make it, but the team did a really good job with the Fiesta Rally2, the updates have been coming for the whole year and the cooling package was the last piece in Japan.

“It’s been an interesting year. I want to thank Jourdan [Serderidis, owner of the Puma he drove in Chile and CER] and, of course, to M-Sport for this year. Now we’re looking towards next year and building on this experience.”
