Katsuta unveils FORUM8 Rally Japan SSS as preparations ramp up

Toyota Gazoo Racing’s Takamoto Katsuta was back in his native Japan recently, assisting Toyota City Mayor Toshihiko Ota in unveiling the route for next month’s FORUM8 Rally Japan super special stage.

A new inclusion in FORUM8 Rally Japan’s rally route, the super special stage will take place inside Toyota Stadium in the heart of the rally’s service park in Toyota City. The stage will act as the opening stage of the rally on Thursday evening (16 November), before being repeated as the final stage of the day on Friday and Saturday.

Alongside the cars of the FIA World Rally Championship, iconic cars of WRC’s history are also expected to provide demonstration runs on the stage, while fans are also being offered the chance to walk the stage.

In addition to unveiling the layout of the stage, Katsuta was also able to reveal this year’s winner trophies.

Prior to traveling to Nagoya, Katsuta had been involved in a motorsport event of another kind, supporting TGR team-mate Kalle Rovanperä who was competing in Round 6 of Formula Drift Japan held at Okayama International Circuit last weekend (7-8 October). Rovanperä finished second overall, whilst Katsuta enthralled fans with drift demonstrations between races.

Both drivers are part of TGR’s 2023 Manufacturer Championship-winning team, with the Finnish-based squad wrapping up the title last month in Chile. Rovanperä can now focus his attentions on winning back-to-back Drivers’ Championship titles later this month at the all-new Central European Rally.
