Fourmaux "feels ready" for Rally1 return

M-Sport Ford driver Adrien Fourmaux says he’s in a better place than ever in terms of his pace and potential in the FIA World Rally Championship.

The Frenchman was leading the latest round of the WRC2 series in Greece before he suffered a spate of punctures on the Lamia-based event earlier this month. The tyre issues dropped him to 12th, but he still managed to climb back up the leaderboard to finish just off the podium in fourth.

“I think I can be happy with what I did in Greece,” he said. “Of course, it was difficult with the tyre problems, but sometimes it’s a bit of lottery when the rocks are coming on a rally like that one.

“For me, I have done a lot of events this year, we’ve won five and really learned a lot and made a lot of good experience. The confidence is there for me and I’m happy we’ve been able to fight and to show our speed on every surface in WRC2.

“Honestly, I feel more ready [to compete at the sport’s highest level] than I did last year when I was starting in Rally1. I’m more ready than I’ve ever been.”

Fourmaux has been dovetailing his WRC2 commitments with a British Rally Championship campaign this season. He could clinch the title of the national series at Rally Yorkshire this weekend.
