Suninen in for Chile, Hyundai confirms

Hyundai Motorsport has confirmed Teemu Suninen’s place within its WRC entry for Rally Chile Bio Bío (28 September - 1 October).

Suninen was drafted into the Korean manufacturer squad’s top-flight line-up for Rally Estonia in July, where he finished an impressive fifth overall on his i20 N Rally1 debut. He went one better on home soil at Secto Rally Finland but no further plans for the Finn were revealed at the time.

While experienced Spaniard Dani Sordo will take the wheel of Hyundai’s third car at EKO Acropolis Rally Greece next month (7 - 10 September), a social media post from the team today (Friday) confirmed that Suninen will return to action in Chile.

He and co-driver Mikko Markkula will join full-time drivers Thierry Neuville and Esapekka Lappi for the gravel fixture, which returns to the FIA World Rally Championship calendar for the first time since 2019.
