Tanak out after less than three stages

Ott Tänak's Secto Rally Finland victory defence is over after less than three stages with the M-Sport Ford driver seen exiting the Friday morning's Lankamaa stage via an access road in EV mode. Team-mate Pierre-Louis Loubet was also stopped on the same stage.

Overnight leader Tänak suffered what appeared to be an engine-related issue around 7km after the start. He switched to EV mode before exiting the stage via an access road.

Loubet came unstuck on a tricky right-hander and ran wide into a rock, damaging his car's rear suspension. Kalle Rovanperä, meanwhile, extended his lead to 2.2sec over team-mate Elfyn Evans, posting the benchmark time in his Toyota GR Yaris.
