Luxembourg’s Munster, who is juggling his time between Rally2 and Rally3 machinery this year, took the lead on the fifth stage on Friday and managed to conserve it throughout Saturday despite being pushed to the limit by full-timer Pellier.
The Frenchman closed the gap to just 2.2sec with two stages remaining only to see Munster rise to the challenge, claiming his first stage win of the day on the very next test to open the gap back up to 5.6sec. He was again faster in the day-ending Tartu vald which utilised roads on the outskirts of the service park.
Sitting a lonely third was Diego Dominguez. The Paraguayan is more than two minutes off the pace of Pellier but comfortably clear of fourth-placed Roberto Blach.
Despite retiring on Friday with a broken steering arm, there was still plenty of motivation for championship leader William Creighton to restart on Saturday with points available for every stage win. The Irishman collected them like Pokémon, going quickest on six of Saturday’s nine stages to take his total stage wins for the weekend to eight.
