While Munster’s primary focus remains on his WRC2 campaign with British team M-Sport Ford, the 24-year-old‘s next outing in the premier support category in Finland (3 - 6 August) is still almost a month away.
Instead of missing round eight of the FIA World Rally Championship altogether, Munster has entered a Ford Fiesta Rally3 in the one-make Junior WRC category and will use his Estonian opportunity to get match fit on high-speed gravel terrain.
“My expectation for Estonia is actually to prepare for Finland,” Munster revealed. “There was a long break between Kenya and Finland so we decided to stay in the rhythm, do Estonia and drive on some fast and flowing roads which share some similarities with Finland.
“We did Estonia in 2020 and it was a good experience. We didn’t have so many kilometres [behind us] then and I think since then we have grown as a crew, Louis [Louka, co-driver] and I. It will be fun to be back there and we will try to enjoy as much as possible.”
