Drive fast and have fun - Greensmith's aims for Italy

WRC2 frontrunner Gus Greensmith has one aim for this week’s Rally Italia Sardegna (1 - 4 June): to drive fast and have fun.

The Briton hasn’t registered for WRC2 points on the Italian island and can, therefore, sit back and relax while those around him battle it in an effort to add to their end-of-season totals.

Greensmith won’t, of course, be relaxing. He’ll be flat out aboard his Toksport-run Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 as he looks to find the edge ahead of the rest of his season.

“For me, not scoring points in Sardinia was always in the plan,” he said. “I wanted to do three rallies then take a break and assess what events we do in the second half of the year.”

Sitting third in the table with two wins from three starts, Greensmith is pleased with his WRC2 year to date.

“It’s been good,” he added, “but I think there are still places where I can improve – I’m still developing as a driver and that’s where there’s work to do. This is what Sardinia’s about, basically I can push all of the time and if something goes wrong then it’s not going to affect the championship. We can use the weekend for lots of areas to improve on.”
