Championship pace-setters William Creighton and Laurent Pellier initially looked set to duel it out for glory, but a roll for the former on Saturday and engine failure for the latter on the penultimate stage blew the battle wide open.
Tom Rensonnet seemed poised to be the beneficiary of his rivals’ misfortune, only to encounter engine issues of his own with just one stage left to run – and Kelly gratefully inherited the lead, which he then maintained to the end of the rally for a maximum points haul.
Rensonnet hung on to scoop the runner-up spoils 30.8sec behind, with Roberto Blach a distant third, 36min56.2sec behind the winner. Diego Dominguez placed fourth, with Hamza Anwar and Raúl Hernández completing the top six.
