Taka aims to right Mexico wrongs in Croatia

Takamoto Katsuta says he will put lessons learned from a disappointing Guanajuato Rally México into practice when the WRC arrives in Croatia for round four this week (20 - 23 April).

With Sébastien Ogier driving for the main Toyota Gazoo Racing squad, the Japanese driver will run under the Toyota Gazoo Racing WRC Challenge Program banner for the Zagreb-based fixture.

Going off the road in Las Minas on the opening day in Guanajuato last time out compromised Katsuta’s entire event and left him running in unfavourable conditions at the front of the field for the remainder of the rally.

“It was a difficult event,” admitted Katsuta. “The car was amazing, but I was not able to use it to its full performance [because of the road position]. In Croatia, I will be hoping to do that and to have a better result.”

Katsuta has a strong record in Croatia, having finished sixth at the wheel of a factory Yaris for the last two years.

“Before this rally (Croatia) I had to focus and make sure I did what I didn’t do for Mexico. I’m looking forward to this rally – like I said, the car was really fantastic in Mexico and I’m excited to drive it again. I want to give the team the good result.”
