Fighting spirit bodes well for Fourmaux

M-Sport Ford World Rally Team principal Richard Millener has talked of the fighting spirit he feels will keep Adrien Fourmaux at the forefront of this year’s WRC2 battle.

Fourmaux makes his third WRC2 outing of the season at this month’s Croatia Rally, with Millener keen for him to head to Zagreb with a positive message from Guanajuato. The factory Ford Fiesta WRC2 driver finished seventh after a troublesome event – but demonstrated both the pace of the car and the crew with an exceptional Wolf Power Stage win.

Millener said: “Adrien’s second WRC2 appearance this year got off to a great start, he was in the mix and fighting for the lead with some great pace and was remarkably consistent.

“He made a mistake on Saturday evening that cost him about 11 seconds, but he did very well to save it and keep himself in the game. Sunday ultimately saw a lot of his hard work undone. Through no fault of his own, he had to change an alternator belt in stage which is a lengthy task even during a routine service.

Fourmaux goes up on two wheels

“His fighting spirit came through here as they got the repair done and carried on and then went on to win the power stage in WRC2.

“We know how strong Adrien is and we know what he and the car are capable of this year."

The Frenchman has won two rallies outright this season, scoring a great season-opening victory on Jännerallye in January before landing a second Malcolm Wilson Rally success in M-Sport’s British backyard.
