What's next for Kajto?

Kajetan Kajetanowicz is hoping to make Vodafone Rally de Portugal (11 - 14 May) his next WRC2 outing after a strong start to his campaign earlier this month.

Kajetanowicz, a three-time European Rally Champion in his own right, came within a whisker of winning last year’s WRC2 series outright but crashed out of the FORUM8 Rally Japan season finale.

The Polish star finished fourth in the WRC2 category on his first outing of this season in Mexico and also won the WRC2 Challenger class. He’s hoping for more gravel action soon, with his next outing set for Vodafone Rally de Portugal in May.

“We will try to do Portugal,” confirmed the 44-year-old, who won WRC3 at the Porto event in 2021. “We have a job to do, and we probably need some time. Then, I think we will do [Safari Rally] Kenya.

“It’s going to be hard work fighting with the manufacturer drivers with big experience, but I will try to catch them. I never give up and will try to do my best at the next rally.”

Competing in Mexico for the second time, Kajetanowicz admitted he had enjoyed the experience.

“It was a good weekend for us with a great atmosphere,” he added. “These people are amazing - I mean the fans from Mexico create a fantastic atmosphere.

“It was important for me to finish this rally and it’s not easy when you don’t have the pace like the drivers in front of you. You know that you need to take some risks, but at the same time it’s important to finish the rally.”
