Guanajuato Rally Mexico reaffirms itself as driver favourite

WRC's stars have praised Rally México’s return to the series last week.

The León-based event provided its usual spectacle of colour, atmosphere and action with Thursday night’s ceremonial start and opening stage in Guanajuato setting the scene.

Eight-time world champion Sébastien Ogier is now the most successful driver at Rally México, having won in North America seven times. His appreciation of the event remains undimmed.

“It’s always a special place to come and compete,” said Ogier. “The fans and the people really give this one a really nice atmosphere and Thursday night is always amazing.”

Ogier’s former team-mate Dani Sordo echoed those comments, adding: “Everybody loves the rally here. There’s so much support for all of the teams and the drivers and so many fans out there – it’s always nice to see this. And the roads are really nice as well.”
WRC2 series leader Oliver Solberg is the second generation of his famous rallying family to fall for México.

“The atmosphere everywhere on this event is fantastic,” he said. “Thursday night is something very special – you really do feel like a rockstar when you come there with all the people cheering and going crazy. It’s a very cool place.”
