Greensmith looks ahead with intensive testing plan

Gus Greensmith will undertake further testing and development following his WRC2 victory at Guanajuato Rally México last week, round three of the FIA World Rally Championship.

The Briton led the premier support category for much of the event on his Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 debut, triumphing by 32.6sec over Toksport team-mate Emil Lindholm. Oliver Solberg, driving a similar car, finished over one-minute back from the lead in third.

It was, in Greensmith’s own words, the perfect start to his WRC2 campaign. But he’s already looking ahead to his next outing at the Croatia Rally, with several days of testing planned before he starts the 20 - 23 April event.

“We're leaving straight from Mexico to go to Spain to test with Škoda,” Greensmith revealed. “The weekend after that, we're going straight to Croatia for some testing. We’ll also do a small rally there before some further testing.

“So, in total, we’ll have three days of testing plus a day and a half of a rally. I’m not missing any seat time,” he added.

The 26-year-old also expressed his satisfaction with Škoda's "easy to drive" Fabia RS Rally2, which was launched late last year.

“I just seem to have bonded very well with it, and I've not struggled at any point to make the car do what I want it to do," he explained. “Škoda gave me a fantastic engineer, and that's made my life a lot easier too. So far, everything's going great.

“In terms of my drives in WRC2, I would say Mexico is right up there as one of the best. Everything was under complete control all the way through the rally and it’s definitely a nice memory. I would like to see this [happen] quite a few more times this year.”
