It was confirmed last week that the high-speed gravel fixture will form part of the 2024 WRC calendar, building on its success within the FIA European Rally Championship (ERC) in recent years.
It’s a significant milestone for Sesks, who has lived in long-time host city Liepāja all his life. He dominated last year’s edition by winning every single stage, clinching his maiden ERC rally win.
"Rallying in the Liepāja region is a family thing," he told WRC.com. "My grandfather started the rally in 1965, and then, after 59 years, it's a WRC event. To be a part of the family which has done the rally for three generations, that's something special."
Sesks is no stranger to success on the rally stages. He finished second in the FIA Junior WRC in 2020 and third in 2021, while this season he is undertaking a full FIA European Rally Championship campaign in a Škoda Fabia RS Rally2.
