Comprehensive new highlights programme shines spotlight on WRC2 stars

The hugely competitive WRC2 series will receive increased airtime throughout 2023 with the introduction of a new in-depth highlights programme.

Introduced from Rallye Monte-Carlo onwards, the 26-minute show will be broadcast after every rally and offers a comprehensive review of all the key moments and top performances from the up-and-coming WRC2 competitors.

The programme, which is available to all WRC+ subscribers and via the WRC’s broadcast partners, will also give fans a closer look at the talented drivers competing in the FIA World Rally Championship’s leading support category, shedding a light on their backgrounds and personalities.

WRC2 welcomes crews in Rally2 machinery and has gone from strength to strength in recent years, attracting almost 30 high-quality entries at the season-opening Rallye Monte-Carlo.

Frontrunning stars this season include the likes of Oliver Solberg, Yohan Rossel, Adrien Fourmaux, Teemu Suninen, Gus Greensmith and Pepe López.

Peter Thul, Senior Director for Sport at WRC Promoter, said: “WRC2 is the ultimate proving ground for rallying’s future stars, and we have seen some thrilling performances within the category over recent seasons.

“The new highlights programme will provide a platform for these drivers to showcase their skills and prowess to a wider audience, all whilst increasing the profile of this ever-growing category.

“But it’s not only the competitors who are benefitting from this,” Thul continues. “This latest development is part of our ongoing plan to bring our devoted fans closer to the WRC excitement, giving them even more exclusive content to elevate their viewing experience.”
