Bertelli confirms switch to Toyota for Rally Sweden

Italian driver Lorenzo Bertelli has confirmed his February presence at Rally Sweden on social media on Sunday night, albeit for a new manufacturer.

The WRC part-timer revealed he will be driving a fourth Toyota Gazoo Racing Yaris, typically driven by Takamoto Katsuta.

With Katsuta sharing a car this season with Sébastien Ogier in Toyota Gazoo Racing's main team, team boss Jari-Matti Latvala had already hinted late last year that their fourth car would become available to private users on events when Ogier does not compete and Katsuta moves into the Frenchman's seat, suggesting that Ogier will not be competing in Sweden and Katsuta will take his position, freeing up the fourth car for the 32-year-old Bertelli.

Bertelli has over 60 starts in the WRC, the majority of which have come behind the wheel of a Ford in a relationship that started back in 2013. He most recently competed for M-Sport Ford at Repco Rally New Zealand in September last year.

"Can’t wait for this new adventure on my favorite WRC rally of the season" - stated the Facebook page of Bertelli's rally team. It is likely that long-time co-driver Simone Scattolin will be on his notes.
