What's next for Greensmith? Young Brit confirms 2023 plans

British star Gus Greensmith has announced plans to hit the stages in a brand-new Škoda Fabia RS Rally2 for the upcoming WRC2 season.

Greensmith announced his departure from M-Sport Ford late last year after failing to reach an agreement to remain within the British squad’s top level line-up.

For 2023, he turns his attention to the leading support category, driving a new Fabia RS Rally2 for the German-based Toksport team. His campaign begins at Guanajuato Rally México (16 - 19 March), with subsequent outings still awaiting confirmation.

"Finally, after eight years in a Ford, it's time for something new and that's the Škoda Fabia RS Rally 2," Greensmith confirmed.

The 26-year-old is no stranger to success with Rally2 machinery and finished third in the WRC2 Pro category back in 2019.

He’s confident the new car will give him the edge he needs to compete at the front - duelling with the likes of Oliver Solberg and former team-mate Adrien Fourmaux, both of whom find themselves in similar positions to Greensmith having also driven Rally1 cars last season.

"This year's WRC2 championship will be by far the most competitive it has ever been, and so I'm really happy with the programme that's been put together with Toksport and Škoda," Greensmith said. "I'll be spending a lot of time in the seat this year, that's for sure."

While Greensmith is excited to get behind the wheel of the new car, he admits there is still work to be done before his season begins. "For now I'll be focused with testing until we start our season at Rally Mexico in March," he added.
