Vote WRC Driver of the Year

There was certainly no shortage of talent on display during the 2022 FIA World Rally Championship season - now it's time for you to choose the best. Vote now for your 2022 Driver of the Year!

It was a breakthrough season for Joona as the 26-year-old romped to his first major title at world championship level.

Driving an M-Sport Ford Fiesta Rally3, Joona soared to the WRC3 title after winning three out of five rallies - defeating Czech rival Jan Černý in the winner-takes-all finale in Spain.

Joona also contested the FIA Junior WRC this season and finished fourth overall in the one-make category after claiming his maiden victory in Croatia.

Stepping up to the WRC2 category in 2022, Lindholm intended to treat his first season in the WRC's leading support category as one for development.

However, the Finn was immediately on the frontrunning pace and, despite having a frustrating start in Sweden, he went on to record two victories and three further podium finishes - dethroning Andreas Mikkelsen to become the new WRC2 world champion.

On only his third full season at rallying's top level, Rovanperä won an impressive six out of 13 rallies aboard his Toyota GR Yaris. His season was so dominant that he clinched the title at Repco Rally New Zealand with two rounds to spare.

In doing so, he became the WRC’s youngest-ever champion just one day after his 22nd birthday - beating Colin McRae's previous record by more than five years.

The FIA Junior WRC's switch to four-wheel drive Fiestas in 2022 proved to be just the remedy for Estonian youngster Virves to produce his breakthrough season at international level.

Showing unbelievable resilience to make it to the start line of each rally - with funding always a question in the back of his mind -  Virves picked up four podiums including victory at the final round to lift the FIA Junior WRC title. As further credit to Virves, a switch to English pace notes mid-season failed to rattle him, with his results only improving further.
