Ogier’s 2023 programme likely to remain part-time

Sébastien Ogier says his 2023 FIA World Rally Championship will look similar to the programme he has enjoyed with Toyota Gazoo Racing this season.

The Frenchman has enjoyed time with his family away from a full calendar of WRC rounds and he’s looking forward to the same mix next year – and last month’s sensational RallyRACC - Rally de España win demonstrated he’s lost none of the speed which helped him to eight world titles.

“I think it’s the same for me and for Toyota,” said Ogier, “we are thinking the same that the plan will be about the same for next year. It’s been nice to mix things a little bit this time, I like that.

“The rally is always my passion, this never changes and it’s why I look forward to more next season.”

Ogier won on his fifth outing this season in Spain, but the Frenchman knows he could well have started the year with a victory at Rallye Monte-Carlo were it not for a penultimate stage puncture aboard his GR Yaris Rally1.

“I think I have been a little bit unlucky with some of the earlier rallies,” he added, “so it’s nice to get the win. But the main thing for the weekend was that I had some fun – I really enjoyed the time in the car and, of course, it was a great way to clinch the manufacturers’ title with Toyota.”
