Sordo reveals hopes for 2023

Next season will mark the 20th anniversary of Dani Sordo’s arrival into the FIA World Rally Championship. Question is, will the Spaniard still be in the series in 2023?

The answer to that question lies within the walls of Hyundai Motorsport and its inner sanctum. One thing is hard to ignore, Sordo’s three podiums this year and five successive
top-threes in the WRC.

Does he want to stay?

“I want to stay while I am good driver,” is the characteristically honest response. “As long as I take the feeling that I’m fast and driving well, I’m happy. I don’t want to be coming to the rally and waiting for the other people to retire to make points.

“Right now, I enjoy the driving and I’m enjoying the fighting. When that stops, then I won’t do it anymore.”

Sordo’s next outing this season is his home round of the WRC in Spain, which takes place from 20 - 23 October.

“We’ll see what happens after that,” he said. “One thing I know is that it won’t be a full season in WRC. I have some other ideas now, some cross-country driving and that can be interesting as well.

“Now, I don’t know what is the plan [for next season], but let’s see what happens in Spain.”

Sordo has started RallyRACC - Rally de España 18 times and finished on the podium eight times.
