WATCH: Mikkelsen crashes on Athens Super Special

Andreas Mikkelsen’s hopes of scoring maximum WRC2 points at EKO Acropolis Rally Greece appear to be over after the Toksport driver slammed into a concrete barrier just 500 metres into Thursday night’s super special inside the Athens Olympic Stadium.

The Norwegian carried too much speed over a bridge and his Škoda Fabia Rally2 Evo become airborne, leaving him without enough room to slow for the tight right-hander which followed.

He did not manage to complete the stage and with no service until the end of Friday's leg, question marks hang over his participation for the remainder of the weekend. Mikkelsen had been targeting maximum points in Greece as he aims to defend his WRC2 title.
