Millener We have to be better

M-Sport Ford World Rally Team principal Richard Millener has called on his squad to put a tough mid-season behind them and refocus in time for next month’s EKO Acropolis Rally Greece.

The British-based squad registered its joint lowest point score of the season last time out at Ypres Rally Belgium, with all three of its drivers crashing off the road. Gus Greensmith was M-Sport’s highest finisher, bringing his Ford Puma Rally1 Hybrid home in 19th place.

Craig Breen had been in the thick of the podium fight when he ditched his car, while Adrien Fourmaux was fifth when he hit a telegraph pole on the penultimate test.

It was announced earlier this week that the Frenchman’s car is too badly damaged, forcing him out of what would have been a six-strong Puma attack in Greece.

Millener said M-Sport will bounce back from a tough week in Belgium.

“We have to put the bad ones behind us, to refocus and to move on,” he said. “That’s what we’re going to do. It is tough, everybody in the factory, everybody in the team is working flat out for this season and rallies like that last one test you.

“We know what we have to do, we have to be better. We’re not happy with the results, nobody is. One thing we can’t forget is that this car won a round of the World Rally Championship a few months ago – so the car’s definitely not a bad one.”
