Cerny unrivalled on storming run to WRC3 victory

Jan Černý led from start to finish to claim a commanding victory in WRC3 at Ypres Rally Belgium.

The Czech driver won 19 of the asphalt speed tests in the all-Ford Fiesta Rally3 category to eventually win by a margin of 10min 41.8sec over Zoltán László.

Picking up a maximum 25 points, Černý moved within one point of championship leader Sami Pajari and is now tied for the second spot with Finn Lauri Joona, who did not compete this weekend.

"We knew that we just needed to finish the race," a triumphant Černý explained to wrc.com. "When you are on the limit it is so much easier because you are always 100 percent concentrated for the driving," continued the 32-year-old, alluding to the fact he was not taking unnecessary risks with one eye firmly on socring maximum points.

Enrico Brazzoli encountered issues on both Friday and Saturday but returned on both occasions. His perseverance paid off as he claimed a stage win on Saturday and filled the final podium spot despite being over one hour behind.
