The Frenchman capitalised on local knowledge gained from competing in Belgium’s national champion to take the honours by 3.1sec in his Citroën C3 Rally2.
Lefebvre snatched the lead on Friday’s second stage and held onto the position for the rally’s entirety. He came under threat from championship leader Andreas Mikkelsen on Saturday’s opening test but quickly upped the tempo to carry a 25.7sec advantage into the final leg.
A measured drive through the last four asphalt speed tests was all Lefebvre needed: his lead remained intact, and he also finished sixth in the overall standings.
"It was a long time since our last win in WRC2,” he said. “I am so proud of what we achieved this weekend and I want to thank the whole team. It was tricky to come back to WRC2 and this victory is for them."
Mikkelsen remained second in his Škoda Fabia Rally2 and still leads the championship before dropped scores are taken into account. With two retirements already this season, victory here would have been a major help in the Norwegian’s title defence.
Lefebvre’s compatriot Yohan Rossel brought his Citroën home 51.0sec further back and claimed more solid points in third overall. He headed Britain’s Chris Ingram by 26.0sec, with the Fabia driver also taking top points in WRC2 Junior thanks to a gutsy Sunday drive.
A deflated Grégoire Munster finished fifth. He led the way in WRC2 Junior for most of the rally but gave way to Ingram on SS17 when his Hyundai i20 N punctured and eventually finished 8.1sec behind.
Vincent Verschueren completed the top six in a Volkswagen Polo while Armin Kremer claimed glory in the WRC2 Masters Cup.
