Pajari reveals more WRC2 drives

Young hotshot Sami Pajari has finalised a further two outings in this season’s FIA World Rally Championship’s WRC2 premier support category.

The WRC3 pacesetter will tackle his home round at Secto Rally Finland (4 - 7 August). He will then switch his attentions from superfast gravel to asphalt for the penultimate round of the year at RallyRACC - Rally de España (20 - 23 October).

Pajari and co-driver Enni Mälkönen made a superb WRC2 debut at last month’s Rally Italia Sardegna when they guided a Toksport-run Škoda Fabia Rally2 to fifth place.

“The drive with Toksport got off to a brilliant start in Sardinia and we couldn’t be more excited to get to try the Rally2 Fabia on the much faster roads of Finland,” enthused Pajari.

“The outing in Spain in autumn will in turn give us the chance to try the beast on fast asphalt roads, so all in all we will get a proper taste of Rally2 speeds already this season.”

The 20-year-old can be expected to challenge the WRC2 frontrunners on home roads at next month’s Jyväskylä-based event.

“This is a superb opportunity for us, to get to drive our home event in such a car is a real pleasure. We’ve put a huge effort in assembling this diverse package for the season and this is again a display of success on that part,” he said.

Before his home event, Pajari will continue his WRC3 campaign and the defence of his FIA Junior WRC title at Rally Estonia (14 - 17 July) in a Ford Fiesta Rally3.

He holds a 17-point WRC3 lead after victories in Monte-Carlo and Portugal. After a troubled opening to his Junior campaign, a win in Portugal left Pajari third in the standings, 11 points behind leader Jon Armstrong.
