No worries for Pajari in Junior WRC

Sami Pajari is comfortably in control of the M-Sport Poland Ford Fiesta Rally3 FIA Junior WRC despite driving reservedly on Saturday at Vodafone Rally de Portugal.

Drama across the field left Pajari almost five minutes clear on Friday morning and he took no risks over Saturday’s gruelling tests.

The Finn didn’t win any of the stages, but was still able to maintain his advantage thanks to a trouble-free drive. He holds a 4min 37.7sec buffer over Lauri Joona with five stages remaining.

Robert Virves was 19min 44.8sec behind after suffering more punctures and technical issues. Jon Armstrong was over 7min further back having restarted after retiring from the lead on Friday. William Creighton also utilised the restart rules and set some impressive times.

Mcrae Kimathi retired for the second time in as many days with mechanical gremlins on the opening test.
