Joona on target for maiden WRC3 win

Lauri Joona remained on target for his maiden WRC3 win after extending his lead on Saturday at Rally Sweden.

The Finn was never headed in his M-Sport Poland Ford Fiesta Rally3 and took time out of nearest challenger William Creighton on every single special stage to hold an advantage of 1min 13.8sec at close of play.

“I ran a little bit wide at a junction in the last stage, but otherwise it’s been quite a good day. I am looking forward to tomorrow,” he said.

East African debutant Mcrae Kimathi was behind Creighton in third, whilst Friday retiree Sami Pajari completed the leaderboard after restarting. The championship leader claimed five stage wins during the day and trailed the leader by 49min 15.3sec.
