WRC3: Pajari pounces on Saturday

A big charge from Flying Finn Sami Pajari paid dividends as he moved into the WRC3 lead at Rallye Monte-Carlo on Saturday.

The FIA Junior WRC champion had been chasing down M-Sport Poland Ford Fiesta Rally3 opponent Jan Cerny and trailed his rival by 26.7sec ahead of the penultimate day.

Cerny maintained his leading pace by winning Saturday’s opener, but his lead folded when Pajari scored stage wins on SS11 and SS12.

There was only 0.7sec between the duo through the final Saint-Geniez / Thoard blast and Pajari eventually arrived back at the Monaco service park with 14.7sec in hand.

Monte-Carlo regular Enrico Brazzoli completed the podium 15min 39.1sec behind, whilst Zoltán László retired on the final stage. Both were driving Fiesta cars.
