Solberg crashes out on Saturday morning

An already difficult Rallye Monte-Carlo for Hyundai Motorsport youngster Oliver Solberg took a turn for worse when the young Swede crashed his hybrid-powered i20 N car on Saturday morning.

Solberg locked his brakes at the entry to a right corner shortly after the midpoint of the day’s second speed test from Saint-Jeannet to Malijai (SS10). The car slithered straight on and down a bank on the left of the road.

Neither Solberg nor co-driver Elliott Edmondson were injured and they were later able to get the car out and continue to the end of stage.

The pair had again been affected by intercom issues in the opening stage, while smoke seeping into the cockpit further hampered their efforts.
