Camilli launches WRC2 assault with Citroën

Flying Frenchman Eric Camilli will tackle a full WRC2 programme this season, starting with Rallye Monte-Carlo next week (20 - 23 January).

The 34-year-old - who drove for M-Sport Ford’s top-tier squad in 2016 - has revealed plans to contest seven rallies aboard a Citroën C3 Rally2 car prepared by French team Saintéloc Racing with support from Citroën Racing.

His campaign begins at Rallye Monte-Carlo next week and will also feature outings in Croatia, Portugal, Italy, Estonia and Spain, with one other round still to be confirmed.

It’s going to be Camilli’s busiest season in a while. He started just three rounds last year but proved his pace by winning the category in Spain, although the last time he entered as many WRC rallies was in 2017 when he drove a Fiesta R5 for M-Sport Ford.

“I am very eager and happy to start the WRC2 Championship at the mythic Monte-Carlo Rally with Citroën Racing and Saintéloc. Even more with such a great car with an amazing livery!” he said.

Camilli is the latest of a number of drivers to reveal their WRC2 title aspirations. His compatriot and reigning WRC3 champion Yohan Rossel is also gunning for glory in another C3, whilst Andreas Mikkelsen is back to defend his 2021 crown in a Toksport Škoda Fabia Rally2.

Other WRC2 entrants this season include Marco Bulacia, Nikolay Gryazin, Chris Ingram and Sean Johnston.
