After outlining the leading entries for the season-opening round at the end of last year, event organisers published the final entry list for the winter fixture in the French Alps on Monday.
Eleven new hybrid-powered Rally1 cars are listed with an equally strong field for WRC2, which has risen to 20 drivers.
World champions Toyota Gazoo Racing has entered three GR Yaris Rally1 cars for Sébastien Ogier, Elfyn Evans and Kalle Rovanperä. Benjamin Veillas is listed alongside Ogier for the first time following Julien Ingrassia’s retirement.
Takamoto Katsuta will pilot a fourth GR Yaris for the new Toyota Gazoo Racing World Rally Team NG operation.
Ott Tänak, Thierry Neuville and Oliver Solberg are named in Hyundai Motorsport’s i20 N Rally1.
Four M-Sport Ford Puma Rally1s will start. Craig Breen and Gus Greensmith were confirmed initially, while Adrien Fourmaux and Sébastien Loeb have been added to the British squad’s line-up.
Loeb will be co-driven by former safety note crew member Isabelle Galmiche. It’s the first time in 180 WRC starts that the nine-time champion will not be partnered by Daniel Elena, who announced his retirement in November.
Greensmith will be accompanied by Swede Jonas Andersson after the pair debuted together at 2021’s final round.
Several new teams are listed in a busy WRC2 field, which is headed by reigning champion Andreas Mikkelsen and Marco Bulacia in Toksport WRT Skoda Fabia Evos. Mikkelsen will have 2021 champion co-driver Torstein Eriksen reading the notes for the first time.
Another Fabia is in the hands of Nikolay Gryazin for the new Toksport WRT 2 squad.
Sainteloc Junior Team has nominated Eric Camilli and Sean Johnston in Citroën C3s, while WRC3 champion Yohan Rossel will be at the wheel of a PH Sport version. Rossel will have Benjamin Boulloud alongside, having initially been entered with Valentin Sarreaud.
Young Czech hotshot Erik Cais steps up from the European Championship as part of a two-car Yacco ACCR squad. Pierre Ragues drives a Volkswagen Polo GTI for the team.
Ex-European champion Chris Ingram starts the first of a seven-round programme in a Fabia as he steps up from WRC3. Grégoire Munster pilots a Hyundai i20 N, while former Peugeot, Hyundai, Mitsubishi and Toyota works driver Freddy Loix starts his first WRC event since 2004 in a Fabia.
The new-look WRC3 category has entries from reigning Junior WRC champion Sami Pajari, Enrico Brazzoli and Jan Cerny. All drive Ford Fiesta Rally3 cars.
Former rally winner François Delecour is the lead name in a strong eight-car field in the RGT category. The Frenchman pilots an Alpine A110.
