DJI Aerial Award

Fans of the WRC’s live coverage and highlights programmes enjoyed some spectacular aerial footage from magnificent locations around the globe during 2017.

We’ll recognise those pictures at the WRC Gala awards night in Sydney later this month with the DJI Aerial Award, and today we offer you the opportunity to vote for your favourite bird’s eye view of the season.

We’ve shortlisted four of the best action clips and invite you to choose your favourite in the video below.

The nominations are:

Sébastien Ogier, Neste Rally Finland – mix the defending world champion, his Ford Fiesta World Rally Car, a classic wide Finnish road and a flat out jump, all viewed from a unique perspective, and you have rallying heaven.

Elfyn Evans, YPF Rally Argentina – Cordoba’s night-time street test opened the Argentine action, the cameras tracking the Welshman through a dramatic urban bridgescape, and all accompanied by co-driver Dan Barritt’s distinctive pace note delivery.

Thierry Neuville, Vodafone Rally de Portugal – watch the Belgian approach and slide around a dusty hairpin, before we follow him as he plants his right foot hard on the ‘go faster’ pedal to blast down the next scenic straight.

Kris Meeke, Rally Sweden – a high-flying Meeke explodes into view over a jump in Hagfors, before kicking up the powder as his studded Citroën C3 attacks the long hairpin bend that looms up next.

DJI provides stunning drone images for WRC TV

This award is supported by official FIA World Rally Championship supplier DJI, whose innovative drone and film technology has provided amazing aerial shots for the WRC’s TV programmes throughout the year.

More than 250 guests, including drivers, co-drivers, team bosses, senior officials, city personalities and government representatives will celebrate at Sydney’s Museum of Contemporary Art, across the water from the famous Opera House, on Monday 20 November.

While casting your vote you will also be entered into our competition to win a fantastic annual subscription to our WRC+ interactive digital service worth 49.99 euros.
