Review: McKlein’s 2019 calendars

Just in time to make an ideal Christmas gift, renowned WRC photographers, McKlein, have unveiled a range of 2019 calendars showcasing some of the best images from an enthralling FIA World Rally Championship season.

Leading the way is ‘The Wider View 2019’. Printed in a 95cm-wide panorama, this wall calendar – now in its 35th year – features 25 brilliant photographic moments that were captured as crews encountered icy forest tracks, fearsome asphalt roads, thick dust clouds and spectacular water crossings.

Celebrating some of the iconic locations the WRC visits, each month features two different images and includes a short description explaining why the pictures were chosen and details of the camera settings that were used stage-side.

The second of McKlein’s officially licensed calendars is the perfect desktop companion. Themed around ‘The History meets the Present’, the fortnightly calendar – measuring 11.5cm x 14cm – displays 55 images alternating between the WRC’s current crop of stars and some iconic personalities and moments from McKlein’s remarkable archive.

That massive archive, which spans decades of WRC action, has also been used to inspire the third of McKlein’s ‘Rally History’ calendars.

Featuring a mixture of well-known and rarely seen photos, the 25-page calendar – giving two options per month – includes a look behind the scenes at Lancia’s iconic Turin workshop as well as some incredible photos taken in the dense jungles of the Ivory Coast.

All the calendars are available from McKlein’s website here.

Keep your eyes on WRC.com tomorrow (4 December) for details about how you can win one of three ‘The Wider View 2019’ calendars in our latest end-of-season competition.
